October Week 4 Reflection – Ocean Lau

Ocean's October Week 4 Reflection

What are your main tasks for this week, and how do you envision these tasks contributing to the company’s success and growth?

My tasks for the week were fairly straightforward and similar to last week! I looked forward to Jessica again, and I gladly assisted her with reviewing and organizing more images from recent events. I worked with a few others who were willing to help me out, which made it much more efficient. These small, little tasks can help save a lot of time for many other full-time workers who need to work on bigger projects, and I am happy to be able to contribute anything

At U+, communication is a big key to teamwork, collaboration, and success. What steps have you taken to maintain open communication with your coworkers?

Since I am working virtually at my home, I always try to respond on time and make my responses as clear as possible. As well, it is also important to stay positive and supportive to encourage activity and others to do their best, especially when you work together! Having a comfortable and safe environment is crucial to getting along with other coworkers.

If you were designing a remote work “survival kit,” what are three things you’d must have to help you succeed?

First, you need to have patience. A lot of tasks can take a long time, and the workplace requires a lot of endurance. Second, a calendar; keeping a calendar helps you keep track of tasks to do, meetings to attend, and makes you feel professional. Lastly, you need peers in a virtual placement– the workplace is all about talking to your supervisors and other workers to succeed and strengthen the company. They set up guidelines for you to follow, and without having anyone to seek forward, there is no structure.

What achievements are you proud of this week? What resources or people were there to support you while reaching your goals?

For this week, I am proud of being able to take some initiative and communicate to my coworkers and supervisors. Whenever you are free, ask for some tasks from your supervisor or reach out to other students! This is what I do to keep myself occupied in co-op and serve as a valuable member. I am glad to have many nice supervisors and coworkers at U+ Education to support all of our learning as well!
