October Week 4 Reflection – Fatima

Fatima's October Week 4 Reflection

What are your main tasks for this week, and how do you envision these tasks contributing to the company’s success and growth?

My main tasks this week were to be in charge of updating the U+ Education Instagram account, lead a meeting with my supervisor, project manager and co-workers, moving videos to be uploaded on official websites, and brainstorming up any new ideas for the U+ Instagram account’s improvements. I think the task that would contribute the most to the company’s success is the social media account improvement. This is because a profile that is interesting, creative, and organized is easier to look at and makes it simple for potential interested consumers to navigate. Decluttering the account will help it look more organized, and having a strong bio for the account can make a positive statement.

At U+, communication is a big key to teamwork, collaboration, and success. What steps have you taken to maintain open communication with your coworkers?

Some steps that I have taken to maintain open collaboration with my co-workers is to ensure them that they are free to message me at any time if we are working together or on the same team, or for any reason in general. I also took initiative by messaging my project partners while we worked on certain projects, so we could make sure one person doesn’t make any changes the other didn’t like or if there was an issue we needed to fix. Another step I took was to communicate and split work evenly with any collaborative partners I was to work with, to make it fair. I also asked questions about anything I worked on after they worked on a similar task, which made it helpful as a guide to follow through.

If you were designing a remote work “survival kit,” what are three things you’d must have to help you succeed?

The first thing that I would have to help me succeed is ChatGPT to use as a tool used to brainstorm ideas and prompt important questions to learn more about a certain topic. Another tool that’s very important to have is an application where you can hold meetings with your coworkers, like Zoom or Google Meet, to be able to discuss our ideas in detail and get to actually see each other and their body language.  The last important tool would be a scheduler or planner, which I would use the app Notion for. It is a workspace where I can organize all my thoughts and plan future events or projects. These are all important tools that would help me get used to working in a remote environment.

What achievements are you proud of this week? What resources or people were there to support you while reaching your goals?

This week, the achievement that I am most proud of is being able to lead a meeting and record down the meeting minutes properly this time. I got the chance to be the meeting leader at Monday’s meeting where we interviewed our supervisor, and it was a great learning experience to understand her point of view. It was also good that I gained a proper understanding about how to record meeting notes after the mistake I had made the prior week, and made up for it. The resources I had was the meeting minutes notes file and I had help from a coworker when I had asked them for assistance, and with these resources, I was able to reach my goals.
