MPL Math Elites + U

Dates:

Grade 3:

Mondays 6 – 7 pm between April 8, 2024 – June 3, 2024 (Off for Victoria Day)

Grade 5: 

Thursdays 7 – 8 pm between April 4, 2024 – May 23, 2024

Grade 5: Angus Glen Library – Program Room

Description:

Math Elites + U is for young mathematicians to gather and investigate interesting math problems and tackle challenging questions together with the support of an instructor. Students will be able to enhance and apply their knowledge to practical math problems.

Materials will be provided.

Cantonese Fundamentals

Dates:

Thursdays 6 – 7 pm between April 4, 2024 – May 23, 2024

 

Locations: Angus Glen Library – Program Room

Description:

Cantonese Fundamentals is a beginner Cantonese course focused on conversational Cantonese. Students will have a chance to learn new vocabulary, improve their pronunciation, and identify basic traditional Chinese words!

Mandarin Fundamentals

Dates:

Thursdays 7 – 8 pm between April 4, 2024 – May 23, 2024

 

Locations: Angus Glen Library – Meeting Room

Description:

Mandarin Reading and Writing Fundamentals focuses on conversational Mandarin. Students will have a chance to learn new vocabulary, improve their pronunciation, and identify basic simplified Chinese words!

Tips and Fun With Math Grade (1-2)

Date: 21/Aug – 18/Dec Mondays (5 weeks)
Time: 4:30-5:00 PM

Description: Join our G1-G2 level Tips and Fun with Math virtually, where students can sit comfortably at home, while receiving classroom quality of math deliveries and develop basic logic and arithmetic skills, a general understanding of geometries, and simple word problems! We see the importance of building a solid foundation for student’s early math knowledge, and aim to help students’ development with useful tricks and joy!

Tips and Fun With Math Grade (7-8)

Date:  21/Aug – 18/Dec Mondays (5 weeks)
Time: 5:00-5:30 PM

Description: Join our G7-G8 level Tips and Fun with Math virtually, where students can sit comfortably at home, while receiving classroom quality of math deliveries and apply their logic, arithmetic skills, and geometry knowledge to real-world math problems, solidifying their understanding of Algebra! We see how stressful is it for students to prepare for high school math, and we are here to help students better equip for a whole new level of math, with joy and support with practical tips for assessment!

 

French Reading Club

Date: 29/Mar – 20/Dec Wednesdays (10 weeks)
Time: 4:00-4:30 PM EST
Suggested age: 4-8

Description: Join U+ Education and Markham Public Library every month for our live from our live French Reading Club from the comfort of your home! This virtual program will be held over Zoom on a monthly basis and will be led by professional language instructors. Together we will practice our French comprehension and reading skills in a group setting by reading along to classic books selected by the library. Children (4-8) can join our beginner story time where we will focus on introductory concepts such as the French alphabet, colours and other basic vocabularies

French Reading Club (9-15)

Date: 29/Mar – 20/Dec Wednesdays (10 weeks)
Time: 4:30-5:00 PM EST
Suggested age: 9-15

Description: Join U+ Education and Markham Public Library every month for our live from our live French Reading Club from the comfort of your home! Travel to Japan (Fundamentals)​

Suggested age: 4-9

Description: Ever wanted to know what it feels like to travel to Japan? Now’s your chance! Japanese fundamentals is a beginner Japanese course that focuses on learning new vocabularies, improving students’ pronunciation and identifying basic Japanese words! This class is taught and supervised by a native Japanese instructor from U+ Education.

Euclid Contest Camp

Date: 18/Sept – 18/Dec Mondays (4 weeks)
Time: 5:00-5:30 PM EST
Suggested Grade: Grade 12

Description: Are you interested in applying to mathematics programs at Canadian universities? Would you like to strengthen your application profile? If so, you would be the ideal candidate to participate in the Euclid Math Contest!

This 4 week program will help students practice the skills they will need to be successful during the competition. If you are a high school student interested in applying to the University of Waterloo, make sure you don’t miss out!

Introduction to French: Adult and Senior (18+ and 55+)

Suggested age:  18+

DescriptionIntroduction to French: Adult and Senior  (18+ and 55+) is designed for adults and seniors who are interested in French language. This course gives learners the opportunity to learn about French culture and learn the most basic French words that can be used in everyday life. 

 
 
 

U+ Math Elite + U Grade 3-5

Date: Mondays January 15, 2024 – February 25, 2024 6-session

 

Time: 5:30 – 6:30 PM (Grade 3), 6:45-7:45 PM (Grade 4), 7:45-8:45 (Grade 5)
Suggested age:  Grade 3 -5

U+ Math Elite + U Grade 1-4

Date: Jan. 2 – 5 2023

Time: 9 AM – 4 PM EST
Suggested age: Grade 1-4

Description: This camp is for young mathematicians to gather and investigate interesting math problems and tackle challenging questions together with the support of a mentor. Students will be able to enhance and apply their knowledge into practical math problems. Materials will be provided.

 
 

Keva Planks and Anti-Bully Program

Date: February 3rd ,10th ,and 24th 2023, March 2nd, and 23rd, April 6th, and 13th

Time: 3-4 PM EST
Suggested age: 8 – 18

Description: Thanks to the York Region Community Violence Prevention Funding – YRES is excited to launch Keva Planks and Anti-bully Program.
Through the fun activities by using Keva planks (similar to Lego blocks), participants will learn about anti-bullying and the
importance of anti-bullying. Together with our experienced instructors, youth participants will be invited to build Keva structures while having fun.

The sessions are free and a gift will be offered!
