October Week 4 Reflection – Jodie Wong

Jodie's October Week 4 Reflection

What are your main tasks for this week, and how do you envision these tasks contributing to the company’s success and growth?

My main tasks this week were completing project 3 (social media testimonials) and starting project 4 (co-op infomercials).  Through project 3 I was able to highlight what it was like being a co-op student working at U+, possibly attracting other potential co-op students who are also looking for co-op opportunities. Project 4 also has this impact but at a greater level as I get to work with two other co-op students to highlight more parts of the co-op experience in a more meaningful way.

At U+, communication is a big key to teamwork, collaboration, and success. What steps have you taken to maintain open communication with your coworkers?

As a part of Kevin’s digital team and the marketing team, I regularly meet up with two other co-op students on a daily basis in order to discuss tasks and ideas assigned to us. This way we can get tasks and projects done with more efficiency. I also communicate with other students on the marketing team through slack and group channels to make sure I am caught up and working with others to complete my tasks.

If you were designing a remote work “survival kit,” what are three things you’d must have to help you succeed?

If I were designing a remote work survival kit I would need headphones, a window and a clean workspace. Having tools like headphones or earbuds are essential to me as they help me focus and tune out any distractions while I’m working. This is the same for a clean workspace as there are less distractions and It makes me feel more motivated. I also really enjoy working next to my window as I get to rest my eyes at times and it brightens the room.

What achievements are you proud of this week? What resources or people were there to support you while reaching your goals?

An achievement I am proud of this week was being able to start consistently meeting daily with two other co-op students to be able to discuss tasks and ideas. At first, it was hard to accomplish this as there were days when some of us were not working, making the initial communicate difficult. Eventually, we were able to communicate and overcome this, being able to meet daily and work more efficiently together.
