October Week 4 Reflection – Matthew Lee

Matthew's October Week 4 Reflection

What are your main tasks for this week, and how do you envision these tasks contributing to the company’s success and growth?

My main tasks this week include attending check-in meetings with Kevin and Tanya to discuss current tasks, goals, and upcoming projects, focusing on learning to create a sponsorship brochure, and continuing work on Gary’s list. These tasks support the company’s growth by aligning my efforts with the team’s objectives, ensuring my contributions are relevant and impactful. The sponsorship brochure project specifically aims to attract more sponsors, which could increase the company’s visibility and funding opportunities. And by completing the task Gary’s list it will help the company understand and reach different top sponsors of Canada easier.

At U+, communication is a big key to teamwork, collaboration, and success. What steps have you taken to maintain open communication with your coworkers?

To maintain open communication at U+, I regularly connect with Aryan, a coworker on Kevin’s accounting team, and Aaron, a friend. We discuss tasks and projects, share tips on completing assignments, and occasionally have small conversations to build rapport. These interactions allow me to stay informed, ask for guidance when needed, and support a positive, and collaborative work environment.

If you were designing a remote work “survival kit,” what are three things you’d must have to help you succeed?

In a remote work survival kit, I would include a reliable tech setup, communication tools, and organization aids. A good PC, with a good monitor, and high-speed internet are important for smooth work. Communication tools like Slack for messaging, and Google Meet or Zoom for video calls, keep team connections strong. Finally, Google Calendar for task management and scheduling, along with a note-taking app, helps me stay organized and on top of deadlines.

What achievements are you proud of this week? What resources or people were there to support you while reaching your goals?

This week, I’m proud of being recognized as the top communicator on Kevin’s accounting team. I made a consistent effort to keep my team informed about my tasks and progress, which strengthened our collaboration. Aryan and Aaron were great supports, as we regularly discussed project details and shared tips for tackling tasks effectively. Their input and teamwork helped me stay motivated and engaged in reaching my goals.
