October Week 4 Reflection – Aryan Nanji

Aryan's October Week 4 Reflection

What are your main tasks for this week, and how do you envision these tasks contributing to the company’s success and growth?

This week, I attended Kevin’s team meeting, where I gained valuable insights and had my questions answered by Tanya. These learnings provided me with a new perspective and motivated me to work harder. I also researched sponsorship brochures in preparation for creating two for events in June, which is essential for attracting potential sponsors and securing funding. Additionally, I updated the Gary list to include more contact information, making it easier for our company to reach out to top sponsors. Lastly, I researched QuickBooks, which I hope to utilize for improving our financial processes.

At U+, communication is a big key to teamwork, collaboration, and success. What steps have you taken to maintain open communication with your coworkers?

To maintain open communication, I try to be clear and concise when sending out messages. I actively participate in meetings, speaking up and listening attentively, which is an important aspect of effective communication. I regularly message colleagues in my department to discuss projects and share ideas. I also ensure that I respond promptly during work hours. I aim to be approachable and encourage others to reach out for anything they need. While communication can sometimes be challenging in a virtual environment, using Slack makes it much easier to stay connected.

If you were designing a remote work “survival kit,” what are three things you’d must have to help you succeed?

If I were designing a remote work “survival kit,” three must-have items would be a computer (with a charger), a water bottle, and headphones/headset. The computer is essential for all my work tasks, and is important for all the software’s used. I need the charger to make sure my computer is always energized. Staying hydrated with water is great for maintaining focus and energy levels during long hours of work, especially when you are on a computer for a long time. Finally, a good pair of headphones helps me concentrate and block out distractions, making it easier to participate in virtual meetings and stay productive. Together, these items help create the perfect remote work environment.

What achievements are you proud of this week? What resources or people were there to support you while reaching your goals?

This week, I’m proud of attending the different meetings and fully researching sponsorship brochures, which is a key step in getting sponsors for our upcoming events. I also updated the Gary list, ensuring our contact information is current. I received valuable support from my colleagues, especially Tanya, who provided insights during Kevin’s team meeting, and ZhenYan who helped walk me through Eventbrite. Slack, made it easier to communicate and share ideas and canva helped with creating event graphics. Overall, the teamwork and support others were instrumental in reaching these goals.
