October Week 4 Reflection – Jaydon Huang

Jaydon's October Week 4 Reflection

What are your main tasks for this week, and how do you envision these tasks contributing to the company’s success and growth?

This week, my main tasks were mainly focused on updating the VRES and PRES websites using Wix. The tasks involved revising content, editing the layout to match with the assigned requirements, and ensuring that the sites provide an engaging and user-friendly experience.

I envision these updates as crucial to the company’s success, especially in the marketing department. By enhancing the visual appeal and functionality of the websites, we’re likely to attract more visitors, increase user engagement, and boost conversions. Furthermore, with more of our websites having proper images and overviews, our company’s reach will also be increased.

At U+, communication is a big key to teamwork, collaboration, and success. What steps have you taken to maintain open communication with your coworkers?

At U+, I’ve taken several steps to ensure open and effective communication with my coworkers, recognizing that it’s essential for teamwork, collaboration, and our shared success. First, I regularly check in with my team leaders and colleagues to stay aligned on project updates and expectations. This includes participating in team meetings, where I not only share my progress but also actively listen to others’ ideas and insights. I also make a point of using Slack and Gmail to keep myself in the loop, especially when I encounter challenges or need clarification. This way, any issues that I may have can be addressed quickly, minimizing project delays, and increasing my overall work efficiency.

If you were designing a remote work “survival kit,” what are three things you’d must have to help you succeed?

1. Spotify: Music is a key part of my work environment, so a playlist of Lo-Fi or relaxing tunes would help me focus and stay motivated. Having an app like Spotify or a dedicated Lo-Fi music app ensures I always have background music to keep the atmosphere calm and productive.

2. Food: Having easy access to snacks or a coffee would keep my energy up throughout the day, which for me is essential to achieving success in a remote work environment.

3. A nice chair: Having a nice comfortable chair may seem like a waste of one of my three things in my kit, but after noticing some back pain from sitting in a plastic chair for hours without back support, I realized an ergonomic chair is essential to achieving success in a remote environment.

What achievements are you proud of this week? What resources or people were there to support you while reaching your goals?

This week, I’m proud of learning how to use Wix, which was new for me. Diving into a tool I hadn’t used before felt challenging but rewarding, especially as I began to see how my updates improved the VRES and PRES websites. YouTube was essential to my learning speed; it offered tutorials that walked me through each step, from basic design to more advanced features, making the whole learning process smoother. Furthermore, I also had a solid support system if I ever needed help, my supervisors and peers were always available to answer questions, which added to my confidence as I navigated my tasks this week.
