Saif's November Week 3 Reflection
How do you think your work impacts your team and the organization as a whole? Describe what a perfect team member looks like, from your experience.
I feel my work and communication provides the team with a more organized assignment. I always communicate my thoughts on who should do what and I think that can help when it comes time to choose responsibilities as everybody has the idea in mind. This can save time and promote organization. I believe the perfect team member is someone who assigns themselves a fair amount of tasks while also not hogging all the work. They would complete everything a bit before the suggested completion time for that task and instantly ask the leader what their next responsibilities should be. They would express their worry or concern if they feel they are unable to complete something and request an extension significantly before the deadline.
If you had the creative freedom to design the course of your own projects, what would they look like? Give at least 2 examples with explanations.
I would love a large slideshow presentation project at the end of the semester on our accomplishments and tasks, which we have around 2 work weeks to work on and in a group of 2. This would allow me to refine my presentation and oral communication skills as I have more time to talk because of the minimized amount of people, while also improving collaboration. I feel this would be great for the company as it allows for all co-op students to present their accomplishments and all the new skills they have learned which could then be used on the website for example.
Pick 3 fictional characters you would like to have on your dream team. Explain why and how these characters will benefit your work at U+.
Rocky – Rocky is by far one of the most determined and disciplined members I could pick. He trains and trains despite his opponent being far stronger and bigger than him, Rocky doesn’t give up. This would assist me in U+ as Rocky would not stop until the job is finished, never procrastinating or slacking.
SpongeBob – SpongeBob is a hard worker who has passion for what he’s doing, despite if its a fun task like catching jellyfish, or a boring task like flipping burgers, he takes it on with a positive attitude. This would benefit my work at U+ significantly as taking on all tasks with a positive attitude despite how daunting they might seem is very important.
Next I would pick Hank from breaking bad because he has excellent problem solving skills and always knows what to do in any situation. This would be useful for my work at U+ because whenever I come across a problem or I am stumped, I will be able to navigate around these problems utilizing an extremely efficient and effective solution.
What music soundtrack would be playing in the background if someone had to make a montage of your typical day at U+?
I would play Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen because after a few minutes of working I get on a roll and am extremely productive until I get distracted and have to start again. Despite distractions, my conscience says I should stay in a work state but I end up taking it easy and then starting again. I wish I didn’t do this and it is a goal of mine to avoid it. The name of the song is Don’t Stop Me Now which is what I’m saying to my mind as I fall into distractions.
