November Week 3 Reflection – Hudson

Hudson's November Week 3 Reflection

How do you think your work impacts your team and the organization as a whole? Describe what a perfect team member looks like, from your experience.

I believe the amount of contributions and efforts I put towards my work impacts the team morale of others to devote a similar level of effort (or even beyond). From my perspective, I believe that demonstrating productivity when working on projects helps others picture their own standards on how much one should contribute. If I were to work next to people who appear as hardworking, it’d inspire me to match their level of hard work with my own productivity! To me, this kind of team member where they’re able to not only work hard, but incite team morale and support others are the perfect people you would want to work with.

If you had the creative freedom to design the course of your own projects, what would they look like? Give at least 2 examples with explanations.

If I could design the course of my own projects, it would involve a bunch of different documents with multiple tabs that are interconnected. I’d have a master document that would outline the objectives of my project, key requirements and components, and a section that includes personal tips, reminders & recommendations (it can be to remind myself to annotate certain text or something as small as drinking water). I’d have multiple tabs and linked Google Docs to my master document that each address certain elements/steps of the project to complete, acting as a detailed planner outlining how I’m going to approach my task. I’d also try to make my documents aesthetically pleasing, from nice font colors to a concise structure of text to make my outlines seem simple rather than having intimidating volumes of jargon.

Pick 3 fictional characters you would like to have on your dream team. Explain why and how these characters will benefit your work at U+.

Three fictional characters I’d pick in my team would be Katniss Everdeen (from the Hunger Games), Erwin Smith (from Attack on Titan) and Emmet (from the LEGO Movie). In both the book and the movie, Katniss Everdeen is extremely resourceful and creative with how she fights against her opponents in the arena, which is further exemplified by surviving in the end. This can be useful to have someone who can come up with solutions, even with limited resources. Erwin Smith also has some of the best motivational speeches and leadership skills I’ve seen in any show as he leads an army, making me feel that he’d be perfect for inspiring team morale even during times of difficulty. Finally, Emmet would be perfect for not only being resourceful like Katniss, but also being able to remain optimistic as shown in the movies, which can be crucial for the team to have at least one team member be able to provide positive reinforcement. I believe with these three members, I’d create a team that involves members strongly motivating each other and taking immediate action!

What music soundtrack would be playing in the background if someone had to make a montage of your typical day at U+?

The soundtrack that comes to mind is electronic music as the huge variance of sounds & beats portrays how my typical day at U+ involves a mix of tasks. It mixes a lot of computer work and communicating with others when reaching out to outside companies, which makes me think that depicting myself in a montage would use electronic music to fit the vibe of my work life always changing. For instance, the chorus of electronic music can represent the more bustling areas of my tasks that involve communication, whereas the verse of electronic music could represent the quieter tasks like doing research on a computer. This song is an example of a song that’ll play in a montage:
