Elina's November Week 2 Reflection
Reflect on the responsibilities you’ve taken on so far at U+, what project(s) are you most proud of and why?
So far at U+, I have worked on many projects but the one that I am most proud of was the U+ Growth Grant. For this project, I had to make up a total new project all by myself that had to help a certain group of people. I am really proud of it because it allows me to make a whole project that would greatly help people.
Think back to the goals you set for yourself near the beginning of your co-op term. What steps have you taken to achieve these goals? (if you haven’t started yet, what steps are you going to take?)
A goal of mine at the beginning of your co-op term was to maintain a good work-school balance. I have been working on this goal as I made sure that I was taking care of both sides. I have been doing well in my school life but I have also made sure to not fall behind on any co-op projects. I will continue to do this throughout my term.
What’s an unexpected skill you developed over the work term so far and how do you envision this bringing a positive change to your career?
An unexpected skill that I developed over the term was my presentation skills. I’ve become more comfortable with presenting ideas to people. This was due to the meetings, we had to present what our team was doing to everyone in our shifts. This will allow me to communicate my thoughts and work clearly and confidently in future meetings or presentations.
If you could change one thing about your working environment, what would it be and how would it positively impact the quality of your work?
I would set up a more defined, distraction-free workspace to help separate work from personal life. There are too many things I need for school on my desk but it would be a hassle moving them just for co-op so I just keep them there. Moving them would improve my focus and productivity but I still stay on task most of the time.
