joseph's November Week 2 Reflection
Reflect on the responsibilities you’ve taken on so far at U+, what project(s) are you most proud of and why?
Some of the projects that I am proud of were the completion of the Lego presentations. Once I finished the presentation I gained a lot of free time which let me catch up on school work. I am also proud of going to Castlemore public school to help out as I got to learn how my superiors taught and cooperated.
Think back to the goals you set for yourself near the beginning of your co-op term. What steps have you taken to achieve these goals? (if you haven’t started yet, what steps are you going to take?)
Well one of the first steps I took for my goal of meeting new people was going to Castlemore as I could meet new people at U+. Going to Castlemore also gave me more experience about teaching as I was able to interact with the children and help them with building and operating the robot. I also went multiple times to better improve my experiences.
What’s an unexpected skill you developed over the work term so far and how do you envision this bringing a positive change to your career?
A skill that I developed over the work term was the way to talk to younger children and how to deal with them. This is because children don’t want to do the activity while others argue with each other to use the robot. This environment created a type of communication to avoid the conflict between the children. This brings positive change because IT allows me to get less agitated when I’m in an argument with other people.
If you could change one thing about your working environment, what would it be and how would it positively impact the quality of your work?
One thing that I would change about my working environment is to have have in person as I often have trouble working at home because I associate home as a place to relax and play, so working in the office would improve the quality of my work as I am more focus on my tasks and I am also able to ask coworkers for help. Also during in person I am able to work with the equipment which gives me a better understanding on what to do.
