Elina's November Week 1 Reflection
Reflect on your tasks this week. What was the most frustrating and fulfilling part of it? Briefly discuss how steps can be taken to improve workflow and team communication.
This week, I came back to work with a lot of new information to process since last week I was off from school (yay!). The week without work and school was great but the downside is that I had to come back and catch up on a lot of new information. This was probably the most frustrating part if I had to say one. I steps I took were to carefully go through all the information I missed and watch the team meeting recording to ensure I get all the information, not only on Slack but also the verbal ones. When I encountered some confusions, I could ask colleagues who were already done the learning.
How do you stay inspired and motivated in your work, even on challenging days? In what ways does U+ support you during those challenging times?
In accounting, the work can sometimes feel repetitive or long, especially when we have tight deadlines or a lot of information to learn . On those days, I stay motivated by reminding myself of the bigger picture, that I have to complete my part of the job because I can’t make the whole team fall behind on schedule because of me. U+ is always here to support us when we encounter challenges, if I feel overwhelmed, I can reach out to my team supervisor for guidance or assistance.
What are some skills or “hidden talents” you have that could spark something new in our work if we tapped into them?
I enjoy collaborating with people and in U+, I could collaborate with teams outside of my own to help spark something new or to find solutions to cross-functional problems. I think I could contribute even more by acting as the link to help bridge the gap between departments, ensuring that what we do in our department are always part of the decision-making process of others which can lead to better projects.
If you could collaborate with anyone in the company, who would it be and why?
If I could collaborate with anyone in the company, I would choose to work closely with the Marketing team. By collaborating with the marketing team, I could gain a deeper insight on how marketing campaigns or sales strategies can impact financial performance. This can allow us to work on our critical thinking skills as well as collaboration, building a stronger bond between teams.
