Week 3 Reflection

Please share how you feel about the onboarding process. What are some resources that were helpful, and what’s something you’d like to see implemented in the future?
The onboarding process is long, yet manageable. I felt confused about some projects and tasks but I was able to push through them with the help of staff and other co-op students. A resource that was helpful was Slack. It allowed me to get answers to my questions immediately and communicate with the rest of the U+ community. Something that could be implemented in the future could be a slide deck or google doc that goes more in depth with instructions if needed.
Describe one main task you worked on this week. Who did you work with? How did you approach the task? What did you accomplish?
The main task that I worked on this week was the Carole Web Inventory Sheet. I worked alongside other U+ co-op students. There are over 160 website pages to review. To approach this task, I tried my best to get at least one entire section everyday. When I finish a section I’ll begin on another then continue the following day until I complete it. I found this method to be straightforward and productive. So far, as I am writing this, I have completed three sections.
What is one big challenge you faced this week? Who did you turn to when you needed support? Describe what you learned and what you would do differently the next time.
A challenge that I faced this week was getting comfortable with working on the web inventory sheet. I struggled with some formatting. I turned to Kevin for support as Kathrine, our team lead, was not there that day. Another student had a similar problem to mine. We were able to figure the formatting out together and had no further problems. I don’t think I would do anything differently as I successfully was able to communicate and fix my problem.
What personal motto or guiding principle would you bring with you to your role next week, and how do you see it helping you contribute to our organization’s mission?
A guiding principle that I’ll bring to my role next week will be to be more organized. I do consider myself to be an organized person, however, I felt that this week was a busy one, and I wish I was a bit more on top of things. This will help with the organization’s mission as I’ll get my tasks done on time with the best quality.
