December Week 2 Reflection – Jodie

Jodie's December Week 2 Reflection

Describe a challenge you have faced in a project thus far. How did you overcome it?

A challenge I have faced in a project this far is when I was working with two other co-ops to complete the infomercial. Since my shift was in the morning and their shift was in the afternoon, working with them was challenging. Communication was slow and it was hard to find a time to meet up in order to record. Luckily for us, we were able to overcome it and work around the obstacle. Since communication was slow, taking initiative and setting up time in advance to account for things taking longer than intended helped us overcome it.

At U+, we advocate for lifelong learning and professional development through experiences. Describe a time where you were pushed out of your comfort zone during your placement and what you have learned from the experience.

A time when I was pushed out of my comfort zone was when I had to record myself making a testimonial for one of my RES projects. I had to introduce myself and answer a few questions, making sure it was engaging and informative to our audience. This was challenging because I had never really needed to record myself as much prior to this experience. Since then, I have learned to be more comfortable in front of a camera.

What application or website do you use the most on a regular basis during your shift (e.g., Slack, Google search engine, monday.com)? What do you use it for?

The application I use the most regularly during my shift is Google Docs. I use Google Docs to plan out my projects and write down any research I do. I find it really helpful to have a place where I can put all my ideas and plan out my projects. It is also helpful to be able to go back and see information that I previously worked on in case I need it.

If you had to choose an animal (real or fictional) to describe your working style, what would it be and why?

If I had to choose an animal to describe my working style it would be a wolf. Wolves are known for their adaptability and their ability to thrive both independently and with a team. I find myself adapting to new environments rather quickly. I also don’t mind working independently or with a team, and I find that I can work well both ways.
