During these past 2 months, what were your major duties and how did they relate to your academic studies?
Some of the major duties I had included editing the math workbooks, creating activity books for summer camp, and managing the high school co-ops. I was able to relate the math workbooks to my academic studies as I am studying math in university. Although the math I am studying is more advanced than the workbooks I’ve been working on, I was still able to apply some concepts. I’ve also been able to apply my math skills to the math clinics I’ve been joining with Vicky. I’m looking forward to continuing sharing my passion for math with the campers during summer camp!
In May you were asked to envision how U+ would contribute to your growth. How has your time here contributed to your personal and professional development? Were there any unexpected challenges or benefits?
My time at U+ has greatly contributed to both my personal and professional growth. At the beginning of the term, I was able to come out of my shell and increase my communication skills as I got along well with the other co-op students. Additionally, my leadership skills were strengthened through managing the high school co-ops and leading projects. I was also able to enhance my editing and curriculum skills by working on the math books and reviewing my peers’ work. There were some challenges that arose during some of these projects, but I feel like I was able to resolve and overcome them well.
Describe 2-3 projects from your co-op that you’re particularly proud of, and how they have helped you grow academically and/or professionally?
The projects that I am proud of are the activity books I created for summer camp with my team. I was really proud of how well my team worked together and was able to get the job done quickly and with no major conflicts. I am also happy that I was assigned a leadership position for this project and was able lead the team to produce amazing activity books. This is the first placement where I’ve been able to take on a leadership role like this which has contributed greatly to my professional growth. This project taught me what it takes to be a good leader and has greatly increased my confidence.

I would like to nominate Megan for employee of the month. I have so much appreciation for her after she dealt with aggressive calls and texts after our flyer distribution initiative. She’s also always willing to help others while still balancing her own tasks.
