During these past 2 months, what were your major duties and how did they relate to your academic studies?

During these past two months, my major duties included managing our TikTok account and being trained as a site leader for the upcoming summer camp. As a neuropsychology major, these responsibilities provided a unique opportunity to apply my understanding of human behavior and cognitive processes in real-world settings. Managing TikTok requires creativity, strategic thinking, and an understanding of social media engagement, all of which are deeply connected to psychological principles of attention and motivation. Meanwhile, my training as a site leader involved team coordination, leadership skills, and problem-solving, directly relating to neuropsychology’s focus on cognitive functions and interpersonal dynamics. This experience has enriched my academic studies by allowing me to observe and influence group behaviour and individual responses within the work environment.

In May you were asked to envision how U+ would contribute to your growth. How has your time here contributed to your personal and professional development? Were there any unexpected challenges or benefits?

My time at U+ so far has greatly contributed to my growth. As the TikTok manager, I’ve enhanced my skills in digital marketing and content creation, applying psychological principles in real-world settings. Being promoted to a managerial role as a site leader for the summer camp has further developed my leadership and organizational abilities. This was an unexpected opportunity that I am very grateful to gain! Unexpected challenges included balancing multiple responsibilities, which improved my time management and resilience. An unexpected benefit was the strong professional relationships and networks that I’ve built, which make the work environment fun and exciting.

Describe 2-3 projects from your co-op that you’re particularly proud of, and how they have helped you grow academically and/or professionally?

2 projects that I am particularly proud of are managing our two TikTok accounts and creating our YouTube channel. Managing TikTok accounts allowed me to apply neuropsychological principles of attention and engagement, enhancing my creativity and strategic thinking. This project improved my skills in digital marketing and understanding human behaviour. Creating our YouTube channel from scratch involved developing content and growth strategies, which deepened my knowledge of multimedia communication and cognitive aspects of media consumption. Both projects have significantly contributed to my academic and professional growth by providing practical applications of concepts learned in university and have strengthened my leadership and analytical skills.
