October Week 4 Reflection – Aliya Cisse

Aliya's October Week 4 Reflection

What are your main tasks for this week, and how do you envision these tasks contributing to the company’s success and growth?

My main tasks for this week include Nationwide Virtual Volunteering Campaign Setup and the Storage Unit Task. I envision these tasks contributing to the company’s success and growth by providing them space in storage units to store camp and company equipment and also providing exposure from providing  the information of mayors and city counsellor’s.

At U+, communication is a big key to teamwork, collaboration, and success. What steps have you taken to maintain open communication with your coworkers?

The steps I have taken to maintain open communication with my coworkers is not being afraid to reach out on Slack. For example, when I feel like I do not understand something on a task, I reach out to my coworkers who are working on the same project for assistance. My coworkers are very easy to talk to and always ready to help, which makes me feel like I am in a supportive environment and I feel comfortable when needing to ask for assistance.

If you were designing a remote work “survival kit,” what are three things you’d must have to help you succeed?

If I were designing a remote work survival kit, three things I would add to help me succeed are headphones, my computer, and a charger. Firstly, headphones are very helpful when needing to focus on certain tasks as the music blocks out distractions and promotes productivity. Secondly, I would have a computer with a charger because working online requires a device where you can work on your tasks and a charger because the computer will run out of battery and the charger will increase the battery, allowing you to continue to be productive.

What achievements are you proud of this week? What resources or people were there to support you while reaching your goals?

This week I am proud of working on the business team presentation! This is because it was a collaborative effort were I got to work with other people who are passionate about pursuing a job in business. We made a group effort to make an amazing slideshow and we plan on presenting it on November 4th. My supervisors and fellow co-op students support me in reaching my goals. For example, I can always reach out to them on Slack and they are always willing to give a helping hand.
