Fatima's October Week 3 Reflection
Describe your main tasks this week. How did you approach the task? What did you accomplish? What did you learn?
My main tasks this week were working on the same U+ Education camps brochure, helping fix grammar errors on an Urdu YRES poster, and organizing photos of events held to be posted on the web. For the brochure, I worked on reviewing what information was still missing and needed to be added. Then, I helped in editing a YRES poster in Urdu to fix the grammar and spelling. I also worked on organizing different photos of events to be posted on the official websites. I learned about understanding which photos to send over and which to not, and how to make sure a photo is quality checked before uploading.
What strategies do you have for staying on track during work and avoiding distractions when working in a virtual environment? What advice do you have for future co-ops?
Some strategies that I have for staying on track during work hours for co-op arre to be in a room where there are little to no distractions, like people, a TV, or the kitchen. It is helpful when you are in a secluded and quiet place, as it helps you focus. Another strategy is to put any other unnecessary devices on silent or do not disturb, so you don’t go on your phone. It avoids endless scrolling, and you can keep your work on track. For future co-ops, some advice I would give is to use time trackers, check your schedule regularly, and take short breaks from your screens when needed.
How do you measure success in the workplace? What are some standards you have set and feedback you’ve gotten from teachers, supervisors, and coworkers that help guide you?
Measuring success in the workplace can be done by always striving to be the best version of yourself, and to do better than you did the day prior. Some standards that I have set for myself is to always keep good habits like being on time, track your work and time, and to set goals. Feedback that my teachers have given me is to always set achievable but strong goals that you can work to achieve at your own pace. These goals can take every person who puts the effort in a long way.
What soft/hard skills do you feel most confident in, and where do you still need improvement?
Some of the hard skills that I am confident in are my skills in using programs like Canva and Capcut, and my soft skills that I am most confident in are public speaking, dependability, and enthusiasm. Some places in my skills that I think I still need improvement in are web development skills and skills in languages, as I would like to learn more languages. I would also like to become more skilled in reading statistics and data.
