October Week 3 Reflection – Aamina Faizal

Aamina's October Week 3 Reflection

Describe your main tasks this week. How did you approach the task? What did you accomplish? What did you learn?

This week, my main task was creating a DIY Canva project. The project focused on how to make a DIY bird catcher with a fall theme, which was really fun to work on. I approached the task by selecting a fall theme and then choosing images of leaves, birds, and pumpkins to complement it. My favorite part of the process was picking out the images that really brought the theme to life. By the end of the project, I accomplished a well-designed set of slides that were both visually appealing and informative. I also learned how to make cute DIY arts and crafts, which added a new creative element to my skill set.

What strategies do you have for staying on track during work and avoiding distractions when working in a virtual environment? What advice do you have for future co-ops?

Use tools like the Pomodoro Technique, which involves working in focused 25-minute intervals followed by short breaks. This keeps you productive while preventing burnout. Set up a specific area in your home for work. This helps signal your brain that it’s time to focus when you’re in that space. Regular check-ins with your team or supervisor help keep you accountable and in sync with everyone. Future advice would be don’t be afraid to ask questions or seek feedback. It shows you’re proactive and committed to growth. Also, even in a virtual setting, take the time to build relationships with your team.

How do you measure success in the workplace? What are some standards you have set and feedback you’ve gotten from teachers, supervisors, and coworkers that help guide you?

Success can be seen when you finish your tasks on time. This means breaking big projects into smaller steps and completing each one. Teachers have often appreciated my punctuality and have said that it shows good time management skills. This encourages me to keep meeting deadlines. Teachers have commented on my organizational skills, noting that it helps me stay focused and efficient. This helps me see the benefits of staying organized.

What soft/hard skills do you feel most confident in, and where do you still need improvement?

I can adjust to new situations and changes quickly. This flexibility helps me handle unexpected challenges. I effectively manage my time to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks. I often use tools like to-do lists to stay organized. I can improve my confidence and delivery when speaking in front of a group. Practicing presentations more often would help me feel more at ease.
