November Week 4 Reflection – Youssef

Youssef's November Week 4 Reflection

What have you observed in others (e.g., team members, supervisors) that inspired you or taught you something new? How will you apply it in your daily life?

One thing I’ve noticed in others is how small actions can make a big difference. For example, I notice a team member who always makes sure to say “good morning” to everyone. It might seem like a simple thing, but it made people feel noticed and valued. This taught me that showing kindness doesn’t have to be complicated. I’ve started to greet people more often, to create a more positive environment.

If we did not have Mojo as our mascot, what character (fictional or realistic) would be a good fit to be our U+ mascot? Why?

If Mojo were unavailable, a strong candidate for U+’s mascot could be Wall-E from Pixar’s Wall-E. Wall-E represents curiosity, determination, and a drive to improve his environment qualities that align with U+’s vision of innovation, growth, and making a positive impact. Wall-E’s character is widely relatable, as he combines a sense of exploration with empathy, making him an effective symbol of connecting with others while embracing new challenges.

What is a surprising or unexpected thing you have learned about yourself during your placement so far? What will you do with this knowledge?

During my placement, I discovered that I am more adaptable than I thought. At first, I felt unsure about handling tasks outside my comfort zone. However, when faced with unexpected challenges, I found myself thinking creatively and adjusting quickly. It showed me that I don’t have to have all the answers immediately, I just need to stay calm and think things through.

If your current co-op position was not available during applications but you had to commit to U+, what role would you have selected? How do you think that experience would contribute to your personal and professional growth?

If my current co-op position wasn’t available, I would have selected a marketing role, particularly in digital or content marketing. Such a role would help me develop valuable skills in communication, strategic thinking, and data analysis, which are critical in both personal and professional growth.
