November Week 3 Reflection – Erin Tam

Erin's November Week 3 Reflection

How do you think your work impacts your team and the organization as a whole? Describe what a perfect team member looks like, from your experience.

In my opinion, my initiative and collaboration with the marketing team allowed all of us to contribute equally, provide honest suggestions, and build up better teamwork skills. I would say because I value responsibility and truly putting in effort into all that I do, I think this mindset impacts or even shows my team members my personality and work ethic, from that encourages them to ask me for help whenever they need! This can also impact the organization because through submitting work that was done with great effort, it may actually be used for the growth of the company! And bringing something different. A perfect team member from my point of view would be someone willing to contribute rather than waiting for a leader to step up. In that way, everyone can throw in or add onto ideas, providing suggestions, and from that reach an agreement!

If you had the creative freedom to design the course of your own projects, what would they look like? Give at least 2 examples with explanations.

If I have the freedom to design the course of my own project, I would make it based on designing. I have always wanted to design a new platform. I vision it to be a way for people to connect digitally like social media, but also with functions such as journaling, reminders, etc. to reconnect individual’s with their hobbies or passions! I would also make several teams to work on it. Through different perspectives, I believe it may have the potential to add more functions which certain people may find useful. It allows collaboration and fun in between, and to understand each other’s preferences and interests.  It can also be a project of research, understanding the different platforms offered today, it can impact the company as well. By testing out functions or features, different company’s websites or main platforms can change for the better!

Pick 3 fictional characters you would like to have on your dream team. Explain why and how these characters will benefit your work at U+.

For my dream team, I would want Joy from Inside Out, Willy Wonka, from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Hermione Granger from Harry Potter! Joy, from her name, can already bring fun into the working environment. With a positive mindset of hers, she can contribute a lot toward making goals and achieving them. She is able to put those around her in a cheerful mood which can allow me to improve my mood while working, and to collaborate with her easily. As for Willy Wonka, he is a mysterious man, but his way of thinking is beyond everyone else. He always thinks outside the box so with his creativity, it can influence me to think from another perspective, or even to come out with new ideas! His willingness to take risks and go beyond limits can reassure my decisions, and trigger creativity. Lastly, Hermione is a very logical person. Not only is she smart and hardworking, she has great leadership and knows exactly what to do. She can split the work according to everyone’s strengths and weaknesses, and provide honest suggestions to improve overall work quality. Therefore, with such a great fictional team, they can truly benefit my work!

What music soundtrack would be playing in the background if someone had to make a montage of your typical day at U+?

If I were to choose a music in the background, I would choose wherever u r by UMI (ft. V of BTS). As I am a pretty calm person, I love listening to slow or relaxed R&B songs which I think can match the way I work at U+. Nothing too crazy but straightforward, working and having my matcha on the side! Fun fact, because this song kind of talks about virtual relationships so it sort of connects to the work environment here at U+!
