Shivangi's March
Week 3 Reflection

Please share how you feel about the onboarding process. What are some resources that were helpful, and what’s something you’d like to see implemented in the future?
The onboarding process was pretty good. It allowed me to become acquainted with the organization’s different tools and facets. The Onboarding OSS was a useful tool, as it led me to the onboarding website, which had the onboarding tasks and important resources. I’d like to see more activities to get to know our co-workers and supervisors better. In a hybrid setting, having a good understanding of each other’s personalities helps with communication, so I’d recommend that.
Describe one main task you worked on this week. Who did you work with? How did you approach the task? What did you accomplish?
I primarily worked on the Budget Forecasting and Ordering spreadsheet this week. I worked with Dina & Nuoheng as team leads, and the rest of the business and accounting team. I approached this task intending to contribute to my full extent to ensure my team met the deadline. I started off by using ChatGpt, highlighting our budget and criteria, and then once I had a base product, I’d search for it on Amazon and other sites. I later streamlined this process by just searching on Amazon, and then cross-referencing using Google. I completed over 70 rows in the last 3 days, and today I will continue to cross-reference the products on other sites for price comparisons.
What is one big challenge you faced this week? Who did you turn to when you needed support? Describe what you learned and what you would do differently the next time.
The biggest challenge I faced this week was communication. I had missed a couple of reminders for a thread I was supposed to respond to, which I had mistakenly thought I had already done. I had a meeting with Kevin, and I vowed to be more diligent with my communication going forward, as I take my responsibilities seriously. I turned to the tools on Slack for support in overcoming my challenge. If I saw a message outside of my shift, I would draft a response scheduled to be sent during my shift to ensure I don’t miss anything anymore. I also check Slack frequently during my shift to respond to any messages in time.
What personal motto or guiding principle would you bring with you to your role next week, and how do you see it helping you contribute to our organization’s mission?
I will bring determination, responsibility, and diligent communication to my role. I will fulfill my duties in whatever capacity I’m needed, and I will do it to the fullest extent. My motto going forward will be “Work smart, hard and meticulously”, as it reflects my personal work ethic and the lessons I’ve learned this week. I want to be efficient, conscientious, and have zero errors in my work and communications.
