Mayuresan's December Week 3 Reflection
Reflecting on your job performance, what factors (e.g., environment, intrinsic motivation) contribute to your productivity? Please briefly explain how so.
Reflecting on my job performance, factors that I’d say have contributed to my productivity would be the working environment I am in. I tend to easily get distracted if I’m in the comfort of my own home, so I try my best to work at the library whenever possible. Also, breaking down big projects into smaller, more manageable goals makes it more realistic and easier for me to work on them little by little. This helps me have more motivation to complete the assignment overall.
Interviewees often ask the interviewer about the company culture during interviews. Reflecting on your placement experience at U+, how would you describe the U+ company culture?
Reflecting on my placement experience at U+, I would describe the U+ company culture as a fun, supportive, and overall great place to meet lots of different people from diverse backgrounds and grow your soft skills with the various projects they have people working on. By being exposed to such a work culture, I am confident that anyone who chooses to work at U+ will gain an enriching first peek into the “real world of work“.
What are two things you are grateful for that is related to your placement? (E.g., an opportunity to work on a certain project, making new friends)
Two things that I am grateful for that are related to my placement would be the opportunity to work on our LEGO Robotics program alongside Christina. It was lots of fun building and testing out our builds in-office, as well as overcoming the challenges with peers. For my final summative task, as part of my co-op course at school, I delivered a lesson about the experiences and skills I gained through the LEGO Robotics project. I was also able to work closely under the guidance of Christina, who was invaluable to our team!
Our sister organization YRES has a mascot called Nova, a big-horned sheep. There are no other details about her other than she always wears a red kerchief and that she is always ready for an adventure. What do you suppose is the backstory of Nova?
I suppose the backstory of Nova would be that she grew up in a small town with big hopes and dreams of exploring the world beyond her town, and ran away as a young girl. She learned many different languages and unique cultures and is willing to share them with the friends she’s met along the way. Nova continues to be an inspiring example for many of us in these challenging times!!
