December Week 3 Reflection – Evelyn

Evelyn's December Week 3 Reflection

Reflecting on your job performance, what factors (e.g., environment, intrinsic motivation) contribute to your productivity? Please briefly explain how so.

My productivity is fueled by a well-organized environment and intrinsic motivation. Having a clear workspace and access to the right tools helps me stay focused and efficient. I’m also driven by the desire to achieve meaningful goals, which keeps me engaged and motivated. Additionally, understanding priorities and receiving support from others boosts my overall performance.

Interviewees often ask the interviewer about the company culture during interviews. Reflecting on your placement experience at U+, how would you describe the U+ company culture?

Based on my placement experience at U+, the company culture is collaborative, supportive, and innovation-driven. Teamwork is highly encouraged, and there’s a strong emphasis on sharing knowledge and ideas. The environment fosters personal and professional growth, with opportunities to learn new skills and take on challenges. It’s a culture that values inclusivity, creativity, and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact, particularly in education.

What are two things you are grateful for that is related to your placement? (E.g., an opportunity to work on a certain project, making new friends)

I am grateful for the opportunity to work on impactful projects that contribute to U+’s mission in education, allowing me to grow both professionally and personally. I’m also thankful for the chance to connect with supportive colleagues and mentors who have shared their knowledge and made the experience collaborative and inspiring.

Our sister organization YRES has a mascot called Nova, a big horned sheep. There are no other details about her other than she always wears a red kerchief and that she is always ready for an adventure. What do you suppose is the backstory of Nova?

Nova, the adventurous bighorn sheep, grew up in the rugged mountains, where her natural curiosity and fearless spirit set her apart from her herd. One day, she discovered an old red kerchief caught on a tree branch during one of her explorations. Believing it to be a sign of good fortune, she claimed it as her own, tying it around her neck as a reminder of her adventurous heart. The kerchief became her signature look and symbolized her readiness to tackle any challenge, big or small. Inspired by the boundless possibilities of the world, Nova now embarks on journeys far and wide, spreading courage and curiosity wherever she goes, encouraging others to embrace their own adventures.
