December Week 2 Reflection – Youssef

Youssef's December Week 2 Reflection

Describe a challenge you have faced in a project thus far. How did you overcome it?

Communicating with supervisors. This week I was working on a task that required feedback from the project supervisor to be able to move on to the next part after I asked my supervisor for feedback I was disappointed when I found none was given, after asking again the next day I found out that she had given feedback but on the previous version.

At U+, we advocate for lifelong learning and professional development through experiences. Describe a time where you were pushed out of your comfort zone during your placement and what you have learned from the experience.

I was pushed out of my comfort zone when my co-op placement was put on hold. This situation highlighted the importance of clear and consistent communication in an online environment. I realized that effective teamwork in a cohesive and well-organized organization relies on openly sharing thoughts and updates. At the time, I struggled with maintaining alignment with my colleagues, which caused some disconnection. However, this experience taught me the value of proactive communication to ensure everyone stays informed and aligned. Now, I actively practice this skill, which has improved my ability to collaborate efficiently and contribute to a well-coordinated team dynamic.

What application or website do you use the most on a regular basis during your shift (e.g., Slack, Google search engine, monday.com)? What do you use it for?

During my shift the application that I use the most on a regular basis is slack, it allows me to see updates, communicate with my co workers see projects and assignments, as well as saving things I did on certain days to enter into my time sheets, it notifies me when I have a meeting or when I get a message, which is why for all the reasons I stated slack is the application I use the most.

If you had to choose an animal (real or fictional) to describe your working style, what would it be and why?

If I were an animal, I’d choose a wolf to describe my working style. Wolves are collaborative, resilient, and strategic, thriving in a team environment while balancing independence. Like a wolf, I value strong communication and teamwork, ensuring everyone contributes toward shared goals. Wolves are also adaptable, adjusting to challenges while maintaining focus and determination. These qualities reflect how I approach work—focusing on collective success, staying organized, and finding creative solutions under pressure. Ultimately, the wolf embodies the balance between leadership and partnership that defines my work ethic.
