December Week 2 Reflection – Matthew

Matthew's December Week 2 Reflection

Describe a challenge you have faced in a project thus far. How did you overcome it?

During the sponsorship project, ensuring consistency across our 15-page outline was challenging due to differing styles and ideas. I overcame this by organizing tasks, assigning sections based on strengths, and scheduling team reviews. Open communication and collaboration helped us deliver a polished final document and improved teamwork.

At U+, we advocate for lifelong learning and professional development through experiences. Describe a time where you were pushed out of your comfort zone during your placement and what you have learned from the experience.

At U+, I was pushed out of my comfort zone while leading the team on the sponsorship project. Coordinating tasks, ensuring consistency, and managing feedback were new responsibilities for me. I learned the value of clear communication, adaptability, and teamwork, which strengthened my leadership skills and boosted my confidence in handling complex tasks.

What application or website do you use the most on a regular basis during your shift (e.g., Slack, Google search engine, monday.com)? What do you use it for?

At U+, I rely heavily on Google Sheets and Slack during my shifts. Google Sheets is essential for budgeting tasks, as it allows me to efficiently organize, analyze, and manage financial data. Slack is my primary communication tool, enabling quick collaboration, sharing updates, and resolving project-related problems with team members effectively.

If you had to choose an animal (real or fictional) to describe your working style, what would it be and why?

I would choose a dolphin to describe my working style. Dolphins are collaborative, adaptable, and highly communicative, which is how I approach tasks. I work well in a team, adapt quickly to new challenges, and prioritize clear communication to ensure everyone stays aligned and productive. For example I am always in meetings with the accounting team to collaborate of different tasks).
