December Week 1 Reflection – Melody

Melody's December Week 1 Reflection

Reflect on your current projects and responsibilities. Are you surprised or satisfied with your contributions so far? Where do you see improvement since the beginning of the term?

Looking back at my current projects and responsibilities, I feel both fulfilled and intrigued by the progress I’ve made. The contributions I’ve made, such as creating engaging Instagram posts and collaborating on digital content, have felt meaningful. I’m especially proud of being able to align my creative work with the organization’s goals while maintaining open communication with my colleagues. Surprisingly, I’ve enjoyed the process of brainstorming and refining ideas with my team.

When thinking of the work that you do, the people you work with, and the outcomes of your projects, what aspect brings you the most fulfillment? Are there any other aspects not mentioned that you want to highlight?

When reflecting on my work, the aspect that brings me the most fulfillment is the opportunity to create content that has a tangible impact. Knowing that my designs and posts can engage others and promote meaningful initiatives is incredibly rewarding. I’ve learned so much from other co-worker’s perspectives, which has enriched my skills and made me feel more connected to the team. One aspect I’d like to highlight is the sense of growth and learning I’ve experienced. Each project has taught me something new, whether it’s refining a technical skill, approaching a problem creatively, or adapting to unexpected challenges.

Collaboration is a huge motivational factor in the workplace. Out of the people you’ve worked with at U+, choose a minimum of 3 people to show appreciation to and explain your choice.

Jessica’s feedback on improving my poster designs has been incredibly valuable. She takes the time to provide thoughtful, actionable suggestions that enhance the final product. Her insights not only help me create better work but also teach me new design techniques and perspectives. Rose and Jodie have been instrumental in helping me review projects and provide constructive feedback. Their keen eyes for detail and collaborative approach ensure that the projects are polished and align with our goals. Tanya and Kevin have been lifesavers when I run into questions or problems. Whether it’s troubleshooting a technical issue or clarifying a process, they are patient, approachable, and resourceful.

If you could mentor a new hire, what would you share as the most valuable advice?

Don’t hesitate to ask questions, share ideas, or seek feedback. Clear and open communication is key to building strong relationships with your coworkers and understanding your role better. Use tools like task lists, calendars, or project management apps to keep track of deadlines and responsibilities. Staying organized will help you manage your time effectively and reduce stress.
