March Week 4 Reflection – Ariana

Ariana's March
Week 4 Reflection

If your project had a mascot, what would it look like and why? How does this mascot represent your project?

If my team had a mascot, it would be an elephant—specifically named Ellie the Elephant. Elephants are all about loyalty, patience, and an incredible ability to remember important details—qualities that really resonate with what we do in HR. We’re the backbone of any company, ensuring that employees are supported, nurtured, and heard. Just like elephants who have impressive strength, we can handle a lot of weight and responsibility without breaking a sweat. Elephants are also known for sticking together as a tight-knit group, which mirrors the collaboration and teamwork we rely on in HR to get things done. Whether we’re supporting individuals, managing change, or creating a positive workplace culture, we’re always ready to lift up and support those around us. Ellie the Elephant perfectly represents the strength, care, and unity that define our team.

How is your team working together so far? Are there any areas where collaboration could be improved to make things more effective?

If I could improve one aspect of team collaboration, it would definitely be to encourage more camaraderie. At the end of the day, everyone’s part of the same team, and we all need to have each other’s backs. I’d encourage team members to be more open with their communication and reach out when they need help, rather than trying to solve everything on their own. Creating an environment where feedback is shared constructively, and everyone feels comfortable giving and receiving it would make a huge difference too. When people feel safe and supported, they’re more likely to be engaged and work together even more effectively.

What drives you to stay motivated and productive throughout the week? Are there any specific factors that help you stay focused?

I stay motivated and on track when working in a team by constantly reminding myself of the bigger picture. I know that every task, no matter how small, is part of a larger journey and that long-term growth and learning are what truly matter. It’s not just about checking off tasks on a list, but about building skills, gaining experience, and growing as a professional. During my time at U+, I want to leave feeling that I’ve gained real, valuable knowledge that will help me in the future. At the same time, I want to make sure I’m not just taking from the experience but also giving back. I want to contribute in meaningful ways to the company, whether that’s through my work, ideas, or collaboration with the team. By staying focused on both my personal growth and the overall success of the company, I feel driven to give my best and stay motivated through every challenge we face as a team.

If you could add one character to your team to make it stronger, who would it be and why?

If I could add one character from a movie or TV show to my team, it would be Pikachu from Pokémon. He’s the ultimate emotional support, because let’s be real, some days you just don’t feel like working or getting anything done. But with Pikachu around, how could you not be motivated? He’s cute, cheerful, and always brings good vibes. On those tough days, having a little fuzzy friend like him would make it way easier to get back into the groove. Who wouldn’t want to work when there’s an adorable Pikachu cheering you on? (Also, he’s tough enough to make sure you’re on task. After all, he does have lightning powers that could zap you awake 😉)
