March Week 3 Reflection – Ariana

Ariana's March
Week 3 Reflection

Please share how you feel about the onboarding process. What are some resources that were helpful, and what’s something you’d like to see implemented in the future?

The onboarding process was super smooth and made for a really solid start to my work experience. It helped me ease into a new environment without feeling overwhelmed. I really appreciated the daily Coffee Chats—they made it easy to ask questions and talk to my supervisors. Without those, I would have kept some questions to myself and stressed out over them. Overall, I think the onboarding process is great. The only thing I would suggest is giving a bit more detail about our role-specific work earlier on, that way we know what to expect right from the beginning.

Describe one main task you worked on this week. Who did you work with? How did you approach the task? What did you accomplish?

This week, my main task was to work on the Carole Web Inventory spreadsheet. I worked with the rest of the high school HR team to go through each row and make sure everything was reviewed carefully. I was really excited to take this on because not only was it my first official task as an HR Assistant, but I was also assigned as Team Lead, which made me even more motivated to do a good job and support the team. One of our key responsibilities was to focus on column K, where we had to click through the provided links and offer feedback on how each one could be improved.

What is one big challenge you faced this week? Who did you turn to when you needed support? Describe what you learned and what you would do differently the next time.

So far, I haven’t run into any major challenges during this experience, which has been great. That said, I know challenges will probably come up down the line, and when they do, I feel confident knowing I can turn to my supportive supervisors, like Mikayla and Jessica. Our weekly meetings are a great space to ask questions, get advice, and talk through anything that might come up, so I know I’ll have the support I need when things get a little more complicated.

What personal motto or guiding principle would you bring with you to your role next week, and how do you see it helping you contribute to our organization’s mission?

A personal motto I would bring with me into the next week is “Don’t be afraid to ask.” Whether it’s asking for clarification, feedback, or support, I’ve discovered that being open and proactive leads to better results and stronger teamwork. In a new role, it’s easy to feel like you need to figure everything out on your own to show that you’re capable, but I believe that asking questions shows a willingness to learn and grow. By continuing to ask questions, I can contribute to the organization’s mission by making sure I’m always aligned with expectations, avoiding misunderstandings, and building strong, collaborative relationships with my team and supervisors.
