Week 2 Reflection

What was one learning objective or goal you had entering this co-op placement? Did you accomplish it? How so/why not?
Throughout my co-op placement, the main objective I entered was to become more efficient with time management and how I plan it out. I believe I was able to accomplish this as my co-op placement has taught me to use Google Calendar to schedule my workflows and notify me for further meetings. Through this, I wanted to make sure I’m able to consistently maintain a working pace that makes me most productive, from learning how I can break my tasks into smaller steps to identifying ways of spreading them out in my calendar in an order that makes my workflow feel dynamic and minimizes burnout. As I was able to achieve all of these invaluable learning experiences, I believe I was able to become more efficient with how I budget my time.
What is the most memorable thing about your placement at U+? It can be an interaction, a project, a skill. Explain it.
The most memorable thing about my placement was getting to work on the Nationwide Virtual Volunteering Campaign Setup where I’d have to bear three months of data entry related tasks, from contacts of city counsellors to booking procedures of potential event venues. Having to work on this project for a very long time heavily challenged me to remain persistent while learning how to collect data more efficiently through effective use of keywords in Google search. This project also pushed me to try and create a dynamic work environment as it taught me how important it is to situate myself into an energetic mood as I work for hours throughout the weekdays.
How has your co-op experience at U+ influenced your career aspirations? (Consider the roles you are open to take on, working model/location, uncompromisable workplace values, etc.)
My co-op experience at U+ Education has broadened my career aspirations for the field of business development. As I’ve obtained insight into that department in my placement while realizing that I was generally strong in the tasks I completed, I think taking on a research-oriented role within business development would be something that I’d excel at while potentially finding interest in. With that being said, after working in a remote location for the past few months at co-op, I discovered that I value an in-person workplace environment a lot as I found myself to have a productive mindset when I had in person shifts versus working remotely.
Write a six-word memoir about your co-op experience. (E.g., “the best routes are rarely pre-mapped.”)
Tasks become opportunities by taking proactiveness.
