Joseph's December Week 1 Reflection
Reflect on your current projects and responsibilities. Are you surprised or satisfied with your contributions so far? Where do you see improvement since the beginning of the term?
When thinking back to my current projects a lot of things come to mind such as my Lego presentations and the time I went to Castlemore, and I believe that I have made contributions that satisfied me. This is because I chose co-op to learn more about the career I am pursuing so being able to help out U+ while also learning more about myself is something I will always be satisfied with. I see improvement weekly even if that improvement is minimal, but I believe the biggest amount of improvement I saw was at castle. This was because I was able to connect with both the students and supervisors which made my learning experience far greater.
When thinking of the work that you do, the people you work with, and the outcomes of your projects, what aspect brings you the most fulfillment? Are there any other aspects not mentioned that you want to highlight?
Whenever I am doing a task the thing that brings me the most fulfillment is completing the said task and not being told that I didn’t do it properly or I did it wrong. This is because it tells me that I did my work properly and I am contributing to U+ properly. Another thing that brings me fulfillment is talking with others. This is because I am hearing their stories which are always interesting, and when they explain something about their past I can use that as a learning experience. SO talking with others helps me learn and also build connections that can last for a long time.
Collaboration is a huge motivational factor in the workplace. Out of the people you’ve worked with at U+, choose a minimum of 3 people to show appreciation to and explain your choice.
1. Tanya: This is because she has a great attitude and has a great work ethic
2. Christina: Helped me with a lot of tasks and also I supervisor I worked with the most. very friendly and dependable too at castle more.
3. Jessica: very friendly and nice. also help me with any questions I had.
4.Vinny: very friendly and helped a lot when I went to castle more.
5. ZhenYan: friendly and whenever I went to her coffee chats she was very helpful
If you could mentor a new hire, what would you share as the most valuable advice?
If I was given the ability to mentor a new hire I would explain that the most important thing that you could do is to give your 100% all and ask for help when needed. This is because everyone at U+ is friendly and willing to help out, SO even if you did something wrong or you don’t know how to do something just ask your fellow co-op students or supervisor to help you out. The reason why you should give your 100% is because that is the most valuable thing to give someone. This is because people who give your 100% are always willing to learn and contribute in their role.
