December Week 1 Reflection – Aryan

Aryan's December Week 1 Reflection

Reflect on your current projects and responsibilities. Are you surprised or satisfied with your contributions so far? Where do you see improvement since the beginning of the term?

Reflecting on my current projects and responsibilities, I am generally satisfied with my contributions so far, but I also see areas for improvement. I’ve made progress in managing my tasks more efficiently and meeting deadlines, but there are still moments when I feel I could be more active in seeking feedback and managing my time. Since the beginning of the term, I’ve improved my collaboration skills and have become better at working with others on tasks. However, I recognize that I can work on improving communication and ensuring that I stay aligned with my team’s goals and expectations. Overall, I am happy with my progress but know there is always room to grow in certain areas.

When thinking of the work that you do, the people you work with, and the outcomes of your projects, what aspect brings you the most fulfillment? Are there any other aspects not mentioned that you want to highlight?

The aspect of my work that brings me the most fulfillment is the ability to make a positive impact by providing useful information and helping others solve problems. Whether it’s helping individuals understand complex concepts, guiding them through challenges, or offering support in completing tasks, helping and supporting others is very rewarding. Another aspect that brings fulfillment is the continuous learning process. With every project, I gain new knowledge and improve my skills, which keeps me motivated and engaged.

Collaboration is a huge motivational factor in the workplace. Out of the people you’ve worked with at U+, choose a minimum of 3 people to show appreciation to and explain your choice.

Some amazing people at U+ who have had a significant impact on my work experience include:

Matthew: His support has made a huge difference, and he’s always a great to collaborate with. I enjoy working on accounting projects, using our skills to develop budgets and review new topics.

Aaron: Aaron is always happy to share ideas and help with general co-op tasks.

Tanya: Tanya is understanding when comes to events that may require me to miss work. She provides feedback and gives overall support.

Kevin: Provides feedback and encourages problem solving.

If you could mentor a new hire, what would you share as the most valuable advice?

If I could mentor a new hire, my most valuable advice would be to embrace a growth mindset and always be open to learning. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek clarification to fully understand tasks. Strong communication and collaboration are key to building good relationships with coworkers and achieving success. So make an effort to connect with your colleagues and share your thoughts. Staying organized and managing your time will help you stay on top of responsibilities, while building meaningful relationships will create a supportive work environment. With these principles, you will be ready to thrive in your role.
