Week 4 Reflection

What have you observed in others (e.g., team members, supervisors) that inspired you or taught you something new? How will you apply it in your daily life?
A lot of team members are very productive and make use of their time properly by getting their work done. Based on that observation, it inspired me to make sure that I don’t waste any time and ensure that the projects are completed before the deadlines. I want to continue strengthening this skill, not just for my Co-op, but also for other tasks I work on. By doing so, I can avoid last-minute stress and ensure my work is completed efficiently.
If we did not have Mojo as our mascot, what character (fictional or realistic) would be a good fit to be our U+ mascot? Why?
If Mojo weren’t our mascot, a good mascot would be a fictional one resembling a dolphin. This is because dolphins are known for being intelligent and very social creatures. Likewise, U+ is all about being social to meet goals in collaborative education. I would want the dolphin to look more fictional, so it’s consistent with our other mascots (Mojo & Nova).
What is a surprising or unexpected thing you have learned about yourself during your placement so far? What will you do with this knowledge?
Something surprising I’ve learned about myself is how much I’ve enjoyed working. Going into this experience, I didn’t expect to have fun – I thought it would just be something I’d do to earn credits. However, I’ve really enjoyed learning how to use the various tools needed for my position and gaining hands-on experience through projects that will actually make an impact on others. With this knowledge, I want to carry a mindset focused on continuous improvement in the workplace, helping me build the skills I need to succeed in the future.
If your current co-op position was not available during applications but you had to commit to U+, what role would you have selected? How do you think that experience would contribute to your personal and professional growth?
If the web development assistant position hadn’t been available, I would have chosen to be a teaching assistant. While I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to gain experience in web development, I would still be able to make significant progress in developing my soft skills through teaching and improving my communication. This experience would allow me to assist with lessons and further strengthen my leadership skills.
