On May 22, 2024, U+ Education attended the Career Fair run by the co-op class of Milliken Mills High School. The students of the co-op class, two of which were working at U+, shared their placement experiences with incoming Grade 10-11 co-op students and other students interested in completing a co-op credit.
High School Co-op students Rida and Shirley were both accounting assistants at U+. They shared their tasks as accounting assistants, including bookkeeping, financial documenting, video filing, and other tasks, as well as their overall experience of the company culture and atmosphere. Many students came by their booths and remarked that they were considering a career in accounting and wanted to acquire some relevant experiences before committing to that career path. Furthermore, Rida and Shirley shared the soft and hard skills developed during their experience, how they kept progress of the tasks, as well as the educational pathway students could take in accounting.
“Working with the co-op students from Milliken Mills High School has been a great delight. One thing I noticed across the students is the dedication to their work. Even though they had slightly different tasks, you can tell from how they respond to your feedback and how they communicate in their channels that they take pride in the work that they do. “
— Carson, High School Co-op Supervisor
