December Week 3 Reflection – Aryan

Aryan's December Week 3 Reflection

Reflecting on your job performance, what factors (e.g., environment, intrinsic motivation) contribute to your productivity? Please briefly explain how so.

Several different factors contribute to my productivity at work. First, my peaceful and organized office environment plays a big role in helping me maintain my focus and minimize distractions, allowing me to work efficiently. Additionally, my intrinsic motivation, driven by a growth mindset, encourages me to always strive for improvement and personal development. I am committed to working hard, and I see challenges as opportunities to learn and grow. Finally, my gratitude for the opportunities I have keeps me motivated. By constantly reminding myself of the privilege I have in contributing to a workplace, I stay energized in my work.

Interviewees often ask the interviewer about the company culture during interviews. Reflecting on your placement experience at U+, how would you describe the U+ company culture?

Reflecting on my placement experience at U+, I would describe the company culture as supportive, collaborative, and growth-oriented. The team environment encourages open communication, where everyone’s ideas are valued and respected. There is a strong emphasis on continuous learning and professional development, with opportunities for employees to expand their skills and knowledge. The leadership at U+ is very approachable and encouraging, contributing to a positive environment. Overall, the culture at U+ creates an inclusive and motivating environment that encourages both personal and professional growth.

What are two things you are grateful for that is related to your placement? (E.g., an opportunity to work on a certain project, making new friends)

One thing I am really grateful for during my placement is the chance to build strong connections with new colleagues and collaborate with them on exciting projects. The friendships I’ve made have created a supportive, fun atmosphere at work. Also, I’m thankful for the access to great tools and the opportunity to work on impactful projects. It’s been great working in a learning environment where I’m not just doing repeating tasks but actively learning while completing projects, developing my skills, and gaining real experience that I can carry forward in my future career.

Our sister organization YRES has a mascot called Nova, a big horned sheep. There are no other details about her other than she always wears a red kerchief and that she is always ready for an adventure. What do you suppose is the backstory of Nova?

Nova, the bighorn sheep mascot of YRES, could have had a backstory revolving around her being a fearless explorer, always ready to discover new horizons. Born in tall cold mountains, Nova was maybe raised in a small herd that valued bravery and exploration. From a young age, she went on her first adventure, finding something for the herd’s leader and was gifted the red kerchief.
