Carole's January Reflection

What was the highlight of your month from work? Discuss your major contributions, interactions, achievements, etc.

As a website developer, I was able to learn HTML, CSS, WordPress, Wix and JavaScript so I can make changes to the U+ Education and the YRES websites. Additionally, I leveraged data analytics to create an in-depth Google Ads performance summary report, allowing me to implement data-driven enhancements across all websites. The summary report included tables and heat maps for clear visualization of issues in Google Ads performance, faults, and suggested improvements. As a teaching assistant, I was able to be responsible for teaching Mathematics to kids from grade 1 to 4 every Monday. I was also the lead instructor for PA Day Camps, as well as a member of the LEGO Robotics.

If you could give advice to yourself on your first week, what would it be? Consider what you’ve learned about workplace expectations, communication, or career growth.

If I were to give myself advice for the first week, I would encourage asking more questions whenever a project seems unclear. It is better to ask questions than to misunderstand the task and realize far too late. To add, looking back to the last two weeks, I have already learned so much in website development, and even in data analysis. Thus, I would also tell myself to look forward to the future, as there are many insightful and fulfilling projects to work on. Working as a Website Developer and Teaching Assistant has enhanced both my technical and interpersonal skills, including leadership, communication, and programming, supporting my professional growth and career development.

Describe a moment when teamwork played a crucial role in the success of a project you worked on. What did you learn about collaboration, and how has it shaped your approach to working with others?

Since Krishna and I were to teach Mathematics to children from grade 1 to 4, teamwork was needed to ensure the delivery of lessons effectively. We divided the work between us, playing to our strengths: one explained the new concept while the other supported the students who needed help in doing it. Therefore, we needed to create a clear line of communication in laying down a systematic approach where all can work together and not leave any student behind. Krishna and I are also both responsible for Website Development, so communication was essential to be able to distinguish our roles and our contributions to the project. This allowed us to work collaboratively and smoothly on the same projects.
